1st Annual Mrs. Nebraska Holiday Party - "Cheers" to A New Year

The Mrs. Nebraska Organization has much to be thankful for. On December 22nd, the 1st annual Mrs. Nebraska Holiday party was held at the home of Dr. Mark and Nicole Panneton. A beautiful spread consisting of delicious hors d'oeuvres and tasty beverages were served. There was a genuine camaraderie between everyone who attended and it was truly a very lovely evening. Thank you Nicole and Mark for opening your lovely home to us.

It was also nice to be in a relaxed setting and allowing the husbands or significant others to bond a little more with each other than just the few hours they do on pageant night, which tends to be incredibly hectic. Bob Daniels (Mr. Nebraska 2012) asked each of the titleholders to sign their name and year on a Christmas card and sent it our only Mrs. America-Ramona Deitemeyer, along with our group picture which was a very touching gesture. Thanks again Bob!

Jen Bradley and Jen Hart have some amazing things planned for the upcoming year and with Kim Daniels recently joining the Mrs. Nebraska Board as the Public Relations & Marketing Manager, you can be assured this next year will be even bigger and better. Several ladies have already signed up to compete for the 2013 title and our awesome organization continues to grow in a positive direction as we empower Nebraska’s married women through our continued charity work, our many contributions, and each of us making a difference within our communities.
So as we ring in another New Year, we raise our glasses to say “Cheers to you!” Here’s to continued blessings for each of your families, to good health, a great sisterhood, and much happiness in 2013! Happy New Year! Thank you Kim for putting this wonderful event together.

Titleholder of the Month - Olivia Nalos Opre (2003)

One of the most unique privilege's I had as the Executive Director for Mrs. Nebraska was with my 2003 titleholder-Olivia Nalos Opre and her unique plat-form relating to hunting. Although, I am no stranger to guns, or the hunting world, and grew up with a father and husband who hunted extensively, I had an amazing awakening of what a woman with a passion could achieve. This woman has shattered every boundary in a “male dominated sport” and she can educate like no other. If you weren’t an advocate of hunting before having a conversation with Livy, I guarantee that she could convert you in just a matter of minutes after talking with her. Her state costume was not just “a costume” but it depicted who she is...a magnificent, highly intelligent, beautiful, huntress!!! Olivia Nalos Opre’s greatest passion is to educate the public about the important role hunters’ play as stewards of nature. Because of her sincere appreciation for wildlife, and enthusiasm to help promote conservation, she is involved in the hunting industry in many capacities. Olivia is Jack Brittingham’s World of Hunting Adventure senior hunting consultant.

In addition, she has appeared on various hunting television shows, has an on-line hunting blog for NBC Sports, is the co-host of Eye of The Hunter™ on NBC Sports, was a co-host of “Inside Texas Outdoors” radio show and is an active measurer for Boone & Crockett, Pope & Young, Rowland Ward, and a Master Measurer and Certified Measuring Instructor for SCI.
As 2003 Mrs. Nebraska America, her platform was to promote the importance of hunters as conservationists, humanitarians and stewards of renewable wildlife resources.

With such a controversial platform, she understood that criticism and adverse reaction would result, but remained eager to provide factual insight on a topic where the truth is often distorted. But Olivia is more stalk than talk, she is a serious huntress, hunting big and dangerous game in countries such as: Benin, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Spain, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada, and throughout the United States.

She has hunted species from red stag to Cape buffalo and many animals in between. Needless to say, she has been there and done that, yet considers herself fortunate to help others achieve their hunting ambitions.

Olivia currently resides in Kalispell Montana with her husband, Tom, and three stepchildren; Kate-8 1/2, Taylor-7, and Cole- 5.

Olivia has most certainly raised the bar on what Mrs. Nebraska
can accomplish during her reign, and she definitely demolished every stereotype of what a “beauty queen” represents!

She is one in a million, and Nebraska is proud to claim her as “our huntress” and sister. Livy, you are constantly changing the world with your gifts and talents for wildlife education and enthusiasm to help promote conservation. That is why we proudly honor you as January 2013’s Titleholder of the Month!
